Urban Stalk Announced as a Semi-Finalist with Start Up Canada
Urban Stalk is proud to announce the company’s Semi-Finalist win with Start Up Canada! Start Up Canada provides critical start up and pre-seed infrastructure to new and emerging companies across Canada which include peer-support, access to advisors, and other resources to strengthen the environment for entrepreneurship from the bottom-up. Each year, Start Up Canada launches calls for submissions to their Pitch Competition for an opportunity to receive up to $30,000 CAD dollars of investment through their programming. Pitches are conducted in front of panelist of judges from business professional, angle and venture capital investors, as well as a cohort of other key financial investors. The opportunity to network and receive additional funding post the Pitch Competition remains high. Likewise, there are opportunities to meet and network with a cohort of peers, and develop local, provincial, and national supply chains to ensure business operational success. Lastly, Start Up Canada provides this Pitch Competition live for streaming by the public and investors to watch from across the country providing a national platform for brand building, exposure, and showcase national and global impact potential of promising Canadian start ups. It was reported that there was over 500 applicants to this Pitch Competition and of these only 100 semi-finalist have been chosen to move onto the live 90 second pitch in front of the panelist of judges. Those who progress will move onto the last 90 second pitch to win up to $30,000 CAD dollars of investment to the business and the critical technology being developed. The public also have the chance to vote for their most favourite start-up and submit a popular vote. The winners of the popular voting will receive an additional $10,000 CAD dollars of prize money for their business.
Urban Stalk and the other 99 finalist will be working hard over the next few months to practice and refine their pitches for the final pitch event to be taking place over September 12-16th of 2022. The public voting rounds have yet to be announced and these dates will be announced over the summer of 2022.
